The Patravadi Theatre introduces new musical theatre with 'Sudsakorn'
Choreographer Jitti Chompee admitted that in his studies of performing arts overseas, his style and preference was inevitably Westernised. But his upcoming production is about to challenge even himself as well as the contemporary art scene in Thailand. Kru Lek came after the showing. She talked about her new project, Sudsakorn. She explained that the show could use personal touch in order to highlight the show with modern choreography. Based on the epic poem Phra Aphai Mani written by Sunthorn Phu, the story of Sudsakorn - the son of a mermaid - is sent on a magical quest to find his father Phra Aphai Mani. Accompanying his magic dragon horse, Sudsakorn goes on an adventurous journey that changes his life forever. This number by Sunthorn Phu was among the most popular plots used for likay shows nationwide.
I think it’s good for the children who interested in performance because they can see and understand the story. It is a good opportunity for children to watch various performance. The children can gain a lot of knowledge and have their own idea.
