The Ananda Samakhon Throne Hall


The Ananda Samakhon Throne Hall was commissioned by H.R.H. King Chulalongkorn [ Rama V ] in 1907 and was completed in 1915. The building designed in Italian Renaissance and Neo Classical styles and has an exterior made of Italian Carrara mable. The design and engineering was undertaken by Italian architects and engineers.

The throne hall is constructed of marble and is 49.5 meters wide, 112.5 meters long and 47.5 meters high. In the center is a large dome surrounded by six smaller domes. On the interior domes are mural paintings depicting the hisory of the Chakri Dynasty. Topics include the returning of Rama 1 from war in Cambodia and Rama V abolishing slavery in 1908.
